Step 1: Selecting the primer
- If you want to cover-up your enlarged pores, wrinkles or fine lines, look for pore-reducing and anti-aging primers.
- If you want to cover-up dark spots on your skin, look for a color correcting primer.
- If you have an oily skin, look for a mattifying primer, which will soak up the oil and tonedown the shine. Salicylic acid containing primers absorbs excess oil.
- If you have a dry skin, look for a gel-based primer.
- If you have a normal skin, use what gives you the best effect.
Step 2: Preparing the face
- Wash your face with a cleanser.
- Apply moisturizer on your face.
Step 3: Applying the primer
- Take a small (pea-sized) amount primer on the back of your hand. A pea-sized amount should be sufficient to cover-up your face and neck.
- Apply that primer on the skin using a gentle and circular motion to blend it outwards.
- Also, apply the primer around your eyes.
- Use your fingertips (especially middle and ring fingers) to spread the primer over your face. You can also use a makeup blender or brush to get a good result. Element
Step 4: Let the primer dry
- Before applying foundation, wait for a few minutes to let the primer dry completely.
- To set your foundation, give a quick dusting of translucent powder before applying your makeup.
